Sound Transit East Link
The East Link Extension is a 14-mile light rail extension connecting the Eastside to downtown Seattle, Sea-Tac Airport and the University of Washington. Ten stations will serve Seattle, Mercer Island, Bellevue, Bel-Red and Overlake in Redmond.
The unique elements of this project include the stimulating challenges of Communication Systems Design involving a pontoon bridge and two tunnels shared with the highway, the co-ordination of the ventilation system and the highway system, and compliance with multiple agencies.
Triunity provided communication design services in support of Systems Interface with the civil East Link Extension contracts and Communication Systems Early Work and Final Design for design engineering and construction management for communications and controls system. The scope included high speed local and wide area IP network, low voltage copper cabling, fiber-optic cabling, CCTV system, access control, intrusion detection systems, access control, intrusion detection systems, fire safety system interfaces, public address, visual message signs, SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition), and emergency telephones.
Triunity employed the General Contractor Construction Management (GCCM) method of construction and Communication implementation was part of the overall civil contract.
